## Definitions

- An **agent skill** is a SKILL.md package — instructions plus optional scripts — that gives a coding agent a new capability. The SKILL.md format is an open standard supported by Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, and 40+ other agents.
- An **MCP server** is a Model Context Protocol server that connects an AI agent to external systems: databases, browsers, SaaS APIs, filesystems.
