GitHits is a version-aware index and context layer for public open-source code and packages. It gives coding agents tools to search indexed source and symbols, read package documentation, inspect package metadata and dependency graphs, and check for known vulnerabilities and changelogs. It grounds agents in real, working implementation examples rather than guessed APIs, reducing wasted retries during dependency upgrades.
