Thunderbird Email gives AI agents complete access to email through Mozilla Thunderbird's native APIs, avoiding direct IMAP/SMTP credential handling. The architecture layers a WebExtension for Thunderbird API access, an HTTP/WebSocket bridge daemon, and an MCP server exposing 12 tools for reading, sending, and managing messages. Thunderbird handles all authentication and mailbox synchronization.
